Pas de Deux and a Pear

By missolive

As the scribe unrolls his scroll a backdrop emerges. I see the quill transformed – a dancer. She flicks her feet across the canvas and paints his landscape of words across the mind. She watches and smiles as she keeps pace with his tempo - following his lead and rhythm. She leaps and suddenly she is dipping and swirling from word to image from word to image and back again. Focused on his cues she commands the stage with a keen awareness of her audience - creating a panorama for Imagination's Eye. I'm quickly becoming lost in the aesthetics of her dance - this Siren of thoughts captivates my breath.

A resonating clink against the inkwell startles me. I see the scribe dip his quill into the well and reach across the grand stage. He skillfully dabs my lips with visions. I am enticed by the bittersweet taste of his prismatic ink. Ink, which reaches far beyond the standard shades of black and grey. My thirst perfectly quenched while simultaneously making me thirst for more.

I gain bravery and reach for the inkwell. He raises his hand in a gentle gesture to pause. I marvel at the misty rainbows dripping from his fingertips. He turns and begins flicking a new verse on the scroll.

A new pas de deux begins. The scribe knows his choreography and he commands the quill to take great care in not tripping my thoughts. I allow him to gently guide me into the next turn. The scribe stands poised – careful not to stand too close or grip too harshly. He does not want to break my dance.

My imagination is enjoying the limelight as he cues a spotlight of thoughts. Gobos dance across my setting teasing me into the shadows beyond while holding me within my own flashbacks. The strength of this juxtaposition eludes me as it takes me into a seductive grip.

The music stops. I look around to only find the dancer's smirking gaze. She knows to wait as I sort my thoughts. My eyes drift to the director's loft above her. I think to myself. And the scribe? Does his mouth grow dry? Do his words ever reach his lips evoking satiety? Is the author ever filled with his own cuisine of choreography? After all, he does serve a buffet of fruits, which synapse from the mind to dancing fingertips. So again I ask, does the server ever feast or, does feasting make him hungry?

My thoughts break as a pear rolls across the stage. The dancer lifts it and watches me as she bites. Juice drips onto her collarbone and shimmers as it streams unwritten dialogue into the ink well. I look up to the loft and I capture the eyes of the scribe. His thoughts piercing mine - then, as new words continue to trickle his breath quickens, not unlike the addict who pleads to satisfy his needs. He instinctively reaches for his quill and from the orchestra pit below I hear the conductor tap his stand and a new overture begins. The dancer takes her place and resumes her dance around a half eaten pear, which sits at center stage taunting me to taste its reward.

The Inspiration...

I had been feeling the urge to write a creative piece, but I had not quite found the right inspiration. I knew it would eventually come and the words would flow. I waited patiently while writing my informative text and personal narratives. Finally my mind began its dance and Pas de Deux and a Pear was born.

This past weekend I read a poem, which elicited the inspiration I had been looking for. I'd like to thank Vincent Moore for his poem; The Quill and I'd like to dedicate Pas de Deux and a Pear to his muse for inspiring an incredible scribe to quench our palates with his colorful quill.

I usually do not turn to Google for images. However, I was having a hard time finding what I was looking for and off to Google I went. These images were found at various websites and blogs. I included the name of the site with each thumbnail below. I used Keynote and Power Point to layer and organize the images. The dancer and the pear are PNG files and can be easily layered over backgrounds. The images in the thumbnails are what I worked with before editing and formatting to my taste.

Miss Olive this scribe thanks you for probing your inspiration from my piece The Quill. You masterfully wove your magic with a poet's eye. The dancing, the movements across the stage kept the poet's attention and excited his soul. This most certainly was a feast and it nourished both the dancer and the poet, adding the pear was magnificent. Your choice of photos genius. Loved the dancer, the pear in front of the most luscious lips I've seen on white.

"I am enticed by the bittersweet taste of his prismatic ink. Ink, which reaches far beyond the standard shades of black and grey."

So true, so true. You fed my soul my scribe, yes indeed you did. Now I must uncork a bottle of red to enjoy with my pear and Pas de Deux. This piece is simply brilliant, well done, Bravo, as I throw roses on your stage and you take many bows and roars of more, more and applause...

saddlerider1 - Honored dear Scribe - honored. To know I have inspired you tells me the pear continues to nourish us all. May the Pas de Deux continue its dance through a quill that enlightens our hearts and minds. As for your roses - these shall always remain pressed in my book of memories. May the colors of your quill continue to flow.

I look forward to reading more of your work.

As Vincent is referenced as part of your inspiration to scribe such a fantastic creation, I Vincent want to tell you that you have soared to great heights. You hid your talents as a poet and I must say, the richness of your words slay me.

You are so gifted and one of my favourite poets in the Hubs. I know you don't place many pieces here, I would challenge you to scribe more delectable pieces and bless us with your talent. BTW as one of the five judges in the past poetry contest I wish to inform you that this marvellous work of art was ranked by me in my Top 5 choices.

This could easily have taken the first prize, but regardless, it was a WINNER in my books. Keep up the great work my poetic beauty.
